Terms of Use
Last updated: 30 October 2026
The short version: Popcorn Lounge lets you bet SHRIMP and OINK on sports lines and pick a side in ALGO pools, on the Algorand blockchain. You connect your own wallet and sign every transaction yourself, at your own risk. Only use it if you're an adult and betting is legal where you live. By using the site you agree to these terms.
What Popcorn Lounge is
Popcorn Lounge is an independent community project. It offers two kinds of market on sports games, set up by its admins and creators:
- Bet lines. You bet SHRIMP or OINK on one side of a line, such as a handicap or a total. A winning bet pays 1.9 times your stake.
- ALGO pools. A YES or NO question on a game. Everyone's ALGO goes into one pot held by a smart contract, and the winning side shares it.
Where your funds go
The two work differently, so it's worth knowing which you're using.
- Bet lines are held by Popcorn. When you bet, your SHRIMP or OINK goes to the Popcorn wallet, which takes the other side of your bet. If you win, you claim 1.9 times your stake on My Bets; if the line is pushed, you claim your stake back; if you lose, Popcorn keeps it. Winnings are paid from the Popcorn wallet, so they depend on Popcorn being around and able to pay. Each line has a maximum bet.
- ALGO pools are held on-chain, not by Popcorn. Your ALGO goes into the pool's smart contract on Algorand. After the game, the Popcorn wallet records the score, and the contract shares the pot among the winning side in proportion to their picks, less a 1% fee. Payouts are sent to your wallet. If only one side has picks, or no score is recorded within 14 days of kickoff, everyone gets their ALGO back.
Results
- Lines and pools settle on the game's official result, entered by the Popcorn admins, who may take it from the odds feed's final score.
- Soccer settles on normal time: 90 minutes plus stoppage time, not extra time or penalties. Other sports include overtime, as their lines are priced.
- If a game is postponed, abandoned or cancelled, or a line was posted with an obvious error, the admins may push it and return every stake.
- Once a result is recorded and paid out, it's final.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or over, or the age of majority where you live if that's higher, and betting on sports must be legal for you where you are. If it isn't, don't use the site. You're responsible for following your local laws, including any tax on your winnings.
Use at your own risk
The site, and the smart contracts it uses, are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or uninterrupted availability. In particular, you accept that:
- Blockchain transactions are irreversible. If you sign the wrong transaction or send to the wrong address, nobody can undo it.
- Smart contracts can have bugs. Despite care and review, no code is guaranteed to be free of defects or exploits.
- Tokens can lose value. SHRIMP, OINK and ALGO can lose some or all of their value. Nothing here is financial, investment, legal or tax advice.
- Lines and scores can be wrong. They come from third-party feeds and can be late, missing or mistaken.
- Third parties are outside our control. Wallets, blockchain nodes and data feeds may fail or behave unexpectedly.
Only bet what you can afford to lose.
Your responsibilities
- You alone are responsible for your wallet, your keys and every transaction you sign. Check each one before you sign it.
- Don't use the site for anything unlawful, or to take advantage of a bug, a wrongly posted line or a game whose result you can influence. The admins may push a line that's been used that way.
Fees
An ALGO pool takes 1% of the pot when it settles on YES or NO; a refunded pool takes nothing. Bet lines have no separate fee: the 1.9x payout is the price. Algorand network fees always apply and go to the network, not to Popcorn.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Popcorn Lounge and the people who run it accept no liability for any loss or damage from your use of the site or the smart contracts it uses, including lost tokens, lost winnings, contract exploits, wrong results, user error, scams, downtime or inaccurate data. If you disagree with these terms or are unhappy with the site, your only remedy is to stop using it.
Changes to the site and these terms
As a community project, the site may change, break or shut down at any time without notice. ALGO in a pool is held by its contract on-chain, not by the site.
These terms may be updated from time to time, and the “last updated” date above changes when they are. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
